Viva New York
From arrival to departure the Hotel Metro was every thing we hoped and more. Never having been to New York we only had other peoples comments to go by and the Metro was recommended by several people we met who had stayed there. Location - perfect! We walked to the theatre and Empire State Building, not to mention having Maceys just around the corner. The desk staff were extremely helpful with information, tickets etc. Our room was small by comparison to other states we had visited, but I believe that is normal in an area where space is at a premium. Having said that, it was well set up with everything we needed and more towels etc than we could possibly use! Thoroughly enjoyed the onsite restaurant and bar, the food was good and the staff really friendly. The only glitch we had was catching a taxi back to the airport. The night staff told us that the concierge would arrange that for us in the morning since we needed a large vehicle to carry all the bodies and luggage in our party, and the concierge was not very happy about it the next day. His comment about "I can't stand out here all day looking for a taxi for you" was unappreciated. Eventually we had to pay extra to hire a "black truck" since taxies were not to be found at that time of day (7.30am). But, aside from that, the whole stay was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family (mum, dad and two teenage boys). I have no doubt we would stay there again next time we are in NY.
